U.S. President Donald Trump has released the JFK files–previously classified documents pertaining the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. A total of 33,000 files have been released, 3,000 never before seen by the public and 30,000 that were previously released but redacted.
Kennedy is an important figure in American history. Born into a wealthy family along with a top-class education, he was also seen as a military hero which secured him a spot in the House of Representatives and the Senate. When Kennedy was elected into power, he started a drive for public services for civilians and federal support for civil rights.
On Friday, November 22, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed Kennedy. Oswald was arrested two days later but was shot and killed by local nightclub owner, Jack Ruby. There was always controversy surrounding Kennedy’s assassination, due to Oswald being killed a couple days later, almost immediately after his arrest, but with the release of these files, it could all come to an end.
