On October 17, 2017, John Dunsworth, the famous Canadian actor who played the character “Jim Lahey” in the series Trailer Park Boys, died at the age of 71 of a short unexpected illness.
Dunsworth was very well-known for playing the drunken supervisor on the Canadian comedy series, Trailer Park Boys. He was a very well-known character on the show, with a very good sense of humor. I don’t know how they will continue the series without him.
Dunsworth had been acting for more than 40 years. He studied acting at the University of Guelph. In the 1980’s, the university hired Dunsworth to produce the school’s welcome show. In the 1990’s he met the director Mike Clattenburg when he auditioned for one of Clattenburg’s films. Then from there he became Jim Lahey–the character he is most associated with today.
His family is extremely devastated and have asked for privacy during their grief.
Dunsworth lived in Nova Scotia and is survived by his wife Elizabeth Bates and children Sarah Dunsworth (41) and Molly Dunsworth (27). His daughter Sarah was an actor as well who played Sarah in Trailer Park Boys.
For many people the death of John Dunsworth has a big effect in their lives. That is the case for me. He will never be forgotten.
I was so sad to see him go!!!!!!
