Is Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick really everlasting?

Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick might be one of the more expensive liquid lipsticks on the market but its wide variety of colours and easy application and removal might just allow it to be in your bag.

When I found out that Kat Von D sells liquid lipsticks I was pretty excited. Growing up, I was obsessed with her show called L.A. Ink which was about her tattoo shop located in Los Angeles, California. There was a good amount of hype about the lipstick before it was released due to the fact that the product promised so many things such as high-pigment and long lasting wear. According to the product website you can, “eat, drink, make up, break up and mouth-off knowing your lips are gonna stay flawless through it all!”

I bought Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade called Requiem, which is a soft lilac colour. The full collection currently has 43 shades that range from a simple nude to bright and bold.

Right when I purchased the product, I fell in love with the packaging, it’s absolutely beautiful. The box is a matte black color with silver metallic roses around it; the whole feel is very elegant and edgy. The actual lipstick tube and twist top has the same pattern as the packaging, also a very elegant yet simple design which seems to be a black outlined flower with it’s foliage. The bottom of the tube has Kat Von D’s label going around the bottom of it. The brush is the perfect size; not too big yet not too small. The lipstick has a distinct butterscotch candy scent.

The price at sephora is currently $24.00 with 0.22 oz/ 6.6 mL of product. Personally, I find the price point to be a bit on the expensive side but the amount of product you get is pretty reasonable. I was very satisfied after trying it out. At first I was a bit suspicious due to all the positive things that this product claimed to contain and hold up to.

Kat Von D claims that “this creamy formula glides over lips like a gloss and sets to a true matte finish. Along with 24-hour wear and high-pigment color, the next-generation formula is packed with natural moisturizers. All-day wear has never felt so comfortable!” It’s vegan and 100% cruelty free aswell which is always great to look for in products.

Most of the liquid lipsticks that I’ve used in the past have been too thick and crumbly or don’t come off very easily. Normally, when using other brands I have to apply some kind of base such as Coconut Oil, Vaseline or any type of lip balm to make the removal process easier and to help prevent my lips and the lipstick from becoming too dry. When I applied this product, it was very pigmented and felt somewhat silky and soft. The nice part was that I only had to apply one coat to get a nice noticeable color, I didn’t find myself having to go back to get the brush coated again. A small amount of product seemed to go a long way.

I was going out to a family party shortly after I applied the product so I kept the lipstick in my bag in case I had to reapply. After about seven hours, I didn’t find myself having to apply another coat! However as I ate, drank, and socialized throughout the day, I must admit I found some color residue. It made a color stain on my cup, but surprisingly the color stayed intact for the most part. There were a few bare spots from where the color came off though thankfully it wasn’t noticeable. Assuming I had chosen a brighter or darker color it would have been a different story. Despite these negatives, at the end of the night the color stayed the same, it didn’t smudge or crumple, which most liquid lipsticks are notorious for.

The liquid lipstick came off easily using a makeup remover wipe. I found that within a few light movements the product was pretty much gone, I didn’t have to scrub or use multiple products to remove it. When the product was fully removed, I didn’t find my lips to be dry or irritated.

The formula of the product overall is amazing, it’s also very moisturizing and long lasting. I could for sure see myself purchasing another liquid lipstick from Kat Von D in the future. I found the formula and product to be very true to their word and accurate to what the website claims it as. I did find the price point to be a tad bit expensive compared to the quality of the lipstick, nonetheless, it’s an investment you can choose to make if a higher quality product is what you are looking for. If so, I highly recommend Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick!
